Ministry Philosophy

As a ministry to children and families, the Texas Baptist Home for Children expresses its philosophy by firmly holding to the following values:

  1. Service:   We believe that each worker must have a sense of God’s calling in their life in order to commit themselves to the mission entrusted to us and to create a fertile climate for spiritual service to those in need so they may experience Christ’s healing in their lives.

  2. Christian:   We recognize the Bible as the ultimate standard by which we must judge all decisions and actions, and we believe that the truth of the gospel is best shared in a loving and supportive relationship where our witness is reflected in both words and deeds.

  3. Integrity:   We hold to the highest standards of accountability to God, to those we serve, and to those who make this ministry possible; and we practice faithful stewardship for all resources entrusted to us.

  4. Professionalism:   We strive to provide the highest quality and most competent program of care to meet the needs of troubled children and families in the context of Christian care, and we endeavor to stay knowledgeable of current development, techniques, and innovations in child and family services to enhance our skills and enable us to better meet the needs of those we serve.

  5. Churches:   We hold as valuable that this ministry is an extension of the ministries of the local churches, and we will conduct our activities in a way that will support and complement the local church and will avoid any affiliation that compromises or weakens our relationship with the churches of the BMA of Texas.

  6. Community:   God placed us in the Waxahachie community for a special purpose, thus, we will maintain a close and effective relationship with those in the community who share our same convictions and commitment to helping children and families.

  7. Staff:   We respect those serving in this ministry and we place a high value on the uniqueness and special God-given gifts of each staff member.   We are a “family” who cares for one another and who considers ourselves to be “co-laborers” together in a ministry built on prayer, love, faith, and hope in God.
